American Landscapes

Carlos Zamora, Sikuris.
Copland, Appalachian Spring.
Dvorak, Symphony no 9 (From the New World)

Celebrating the rich variety of our hemisphere, this program begins in Chile with Carlos Zamora’s rhythmic and energetic Sikuris. Moving north, we perform the iconic Appalachian Spring Suite by Aaron Copland, one of the most recognized American composers of the 20th century. This amazing music draws inspiration from the vastness of the American landscape and rural life. The program concludes with an audience favorite, Dvorak’s New World Symphony, written during the time he lived in the United States. It’s a perfect prelude to another event in nature, the solar eclipse on April 8th .
